Cascading Properties
One of the most powerful features of ePhotoAlbum is cascading properties. It' is important that you understand the concept of cascading properties to avoid confusion when working with the software.
Cascading properties means that the properties of an item in the Photo Album Bar are inherited by the children of that item, unless the properties of the children are explicitly modified.
You might might be wondering why this is a powerful feature. The following is an example of this power. A user has 100 images in a photo album. The user realizes that he is running of space on his web server and wants to make all the images slightly smaller, and wants to reduce the quality of the images so that they take up less space. The user can select the root item in the Photo Album Bar, and select properties. The user reduces the image size and quality on the 'Image' page. The user clicks the OK button, and all 100 images are regenerated. Obviously, this would have taken considerable time had the user been required to modify the properties of each image individually.
If the user wanted his most recent images to be larger, and higher quality, he can select the root of those images, and select properties. He can increase the size and quality of the images and click OK. These images will no longer inherit their properties from their parent. Even if the user goes back to the root item, and makes the images even smaller, the recent images will not be affected.
